This project involved designing a type specimen for a typeface of our choosing. I selected Loretta and used The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway as the content. 

My aim for the type specimen was to subtly reinforce the themes of isolation and perseverance, as well as more literal moments from The Old Man and the Sea, such as the fish and the moon. By using typography as the primary medium for storytelling, I allowed the layout, hierarchy, and composition to communicate the mood and ideas of the text. I incorporated a restrained colour palette, sand a considered typographic hierarchy to create a publication that felt cohesive while supporting the narrative without being overwhelmed by it.
